FOG CHILDREN

Breaking out of silence

A documentary film by Corinne Kuenzli

Length: 105’ Kino / 52’ TV / 2 x 50’ Dok-Serie
Release planned for: January 2025

Nightmares and family secrets are forcing former institutionalized children and foster children given away as cheap labour as well as the next generation to search together for a new present.

Daughters, sons, mothers and fathers want to break the decades-long silence in their families. They search for files, go to archives, rummage through documents and study photo albums. They come up against powerful authorities, prejudices, overburdened families and desperate struggles of mothers for their children. In the course of their search, they begin to understand the causes and effects of the loneliness and violence that characterized the adolescence of children in care and foster children sent away as cheap labour. By listening and telling stories, they create a new present together.
